Norwegian Cruise Line Ends Search for Man Overboard as Norwegian Epic Sails from Jamaica to Bahamas

In a somber turn of events, Norwegian Cruise Line has ceased its search and rescue efforts for a 51-year-old man who tragically went overboard from the Norwegian Epic. The incident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday as the vessel journeyed from Ocho Rios, Jamaica, to the Bahamas.

The Norwegian Epic, which embarked from Port Canaveral last Saturday, was in the midst of a seven-night Caribbean cruise when the unfortunate event unfolded. The man, part of a large family group enjoying the trip together, has not been located despite extensive search efforts.

A cruise line spokesperson expressed the company’s deep concern and extended their heartfelt sympathies to the family during this distressing time. The decision to suspend the search was made after careful consideration and in consultation with maritime authorities.

Passengers aboard the ship were informed of the situation and the subsequent cessation of the search. The Norwegian Epic is continuing its scheduled itinerary as the cruise line cooperates with relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
